Read First Before Buy Norpro 3247 Deluxe Pastry Blender
I am puzzled by the one star review for this product. Though I did not purchase through Amazon, I am here searching for the product I own so that I can get more for friends. No one in my area carries them. I own the Norpro professional pastry blender. It looks identical to the item pictured here. (The four blades are not common on the other pastry blenders I've seen, and the design of this one is different enough from the standard Norpro blender that it is easy to differentiate.) I make my pastry with cold butter and this is the only pastry blender I have tried that doesn't bend under the resistance of the hard, cold, butter. All other blenders I have tried have such flimsy wires or blades that I can move them with my fingers. These blades do not bend under pressure whether from my fingers or the hard butter. I don't understand why even my local kitchen specialty store doesn't carry them. The "heavy duty" Norpro blender they carry is nowhere near as strong as this. If this truly is the product pictured, it is the best.

The blender is heavier and larger than my old one. It requires a larger bowl to blend flour and butter. The tines are thick compared to the stamped ones on my old blender. Can't see how they would bend unless one was using extreme force. It is very solid and will most likely be the last one I buy. It's nice to see this quality in kitchen tools.

BalasHapusGot married a little while ago, and started cooking and baking again. I hadn't used a pastry blender in years, and that one was my mom's. This one is very sturdy, and has a nice weight to it. Have so far only used it once, and it worked wonderfully.
BalasHapusI've tried a few different methods and gadgets of cutting frozen butter into flour. This is by far the simplest and quickest way to do it. I was a little worried about the large space between the blades, but it turned out that it was no problem at all. This blender is sturdy, has a good weight to it (without being too heavy) and handles frozen butter really well. The curve of the blades works well with my mixing bowls. I am not sure about that one star review as I feel it is a really well built and it didn't bend or buckle with frozen butter.

BalasHapusThis heavy-duty pastry blender feels good in the hands and is very sturdy. Unlike the wire ones I've had in the past, this one will last forever. Dough does get stuck between the whatchamacallits, but it is easily pushed out. I have made scones using this tool, and they came out great! I recommend this for anyone who uses one on a regular basis. You'll never have to buy another.
BalasHapusTHIS PASTRY BLENDER IT VERY RUGGED.
BalasHapusI HAVE XXL HANDS (GLOVE SIZE).
MY WIFE GOT THIS FOR ME BECAUSE I CAN FIT MY WHOLE HAND IN IT NORMALLY ONLY GET 3 OF MY FINGERS IN PASTRY BLENDERS CAUSING HAND CRAMPS WHEN BLENDING HARD BUTTER.
THE BLADES DONT BEND AT ALL I USE BUTTER RIGHT OUT OF THE FRIDGE WHEN MAKING CHRIPS THIS GOES RIGHT THRU IT.
Looks to be much better built then the common pastry blenders available at ordinary retailers. Fits well in my hand and comfortable to use.
