Read First Before Buy Vitamix 1782 TurboBlend 2 Speed
Our 33-yo vegan daughter requested this for her only Christmas present, so a number of family members went in to get it for her, even though we were shocked at the price. The very first thing she did was grind some nuts to a powder which took just seconds, and made a couple of smoothies the first minute she got home. Then on New Year's Day she brought it back to our house again to make another smoothie and some Nutella from scratch (the regular stuff has dairy in it, she says). Taking into consideration all my feedback is secondhand, I would say she adores this machine. It is probably the first non-human thing she would save from a house fire, LOL! She says it is heavy-duty, fast, will do anything in seconds. My husband liked the 5-yr warranty too. Appears to be a phenomenal product!

BalasHapusIf you are going to make smoothies every day, this product is worth it's weight in gold (which is good because its price suggests it is made of gold). I abuse the heck out of this thing making my morning smoothies with fruits and vegetables and it just won't quit. It blends things quickly and completely and allows you to really get creative with your drinks.
BalasHapusThis is the secret scoop!!
BalasHapusThis model is the lowest, yet BEST model. It has ALL the same power, but none of the useless dials and wasted cost. Also you can oftentimes get an Open Box, Refurb version that I swear must be BRAND NEW. I think it is a marketing trick to avoid the official minimum price. I have all my friends buy this model. I have a higher model, the extra dials are a waste, and SLOWER to use and MORE steps. Keep it simple. Low, High On Off.
Oh yeah, the machine rocks too. Destroyed a buddy of mine that bought a Ninja thinking it was great. We did a side by side. He was so embarrassed for feeling like a chump (think Ice chunks, vs smooth yogurt). He returned his and bought ... this model.
This was shipped the next day and the blender is amazing! I use it more than 3 times a day. I use it to make all my different nut butters, smoothies, soups, salsa etc!
BalasHapusI throw everything in this. Just buy it and stop shopping around, it has more than enough power to do anything you need it to. I never use the tamper and make mostly smoothies and soups. With enough liquid this thing could blend the moon.
BalasHapusOn several occasions I saw the VitaMix demo'd at Costco, but I didn't spring for it, primarily because of the price. But neighbors have one, and they've made nut butters for me, which you can't do with a regular blender. My old bar-style blender bit the dust, so I needed a replacement quickly. I checked Cuisinart and KitchenAid models here at Amazon, and I read quite a few reviews, especially the one-star and two-star comments. I wanted to know what people didn't like, or what quality issues might be worth noting. Obviously Cuisinart and KitchenAid sell thousands of blenders to thousands of happy people, but I didn't like reading about leaking jars, motor problems, and returns. I encourage you to do a little reading about these products, including the VitaMix, before you buy. I think there may be a decline in manufacturing quality on some of the well-known brands. Basically with VitaMix, if something goes wrong, which is unlikely, they take care of it without delay. So ...
BalasHapusI decided to go ahead and spring for a VitaMix, and I saw that this newer model was available. Yes, it's pricey, but you can apply for an Amazon Store Card, and on a purchase this expensive there is a six-month interest-free option, so that makes buying one manageable for lots of people, including me. That's exactly how I paid for it.
It's a very powerful machine, it has a new lid on the jar which is more snug fitting. Not as noisy as my last blender, which was a real banshee screamer. The only thing I might criticize is the recipe book that comes with the unit is focused on fruity, sweet drinks. Well, that's fine, we all love that stuff, but the machine can do much more than make frappucinos. You can puree roasted eggplant to add to chicken stock for soup, you can make superb pasta sauces, pestos, and savory dips. This is a tool for people who like to cook and make things with fresh ingredients. If your needs are very basic, like a morning smoothie, you may not need this much power. I did laugh when I unpacked my unit and saw that it has a 3-prong plug, and a fairly sturdy cord. This is not your average kitchen blender! If the pocketbook will allow it, and if you are something of a foodie, I think it's a good investment, it'll likely last forever and expand your horizons in the kitchen. It sure has delighted me.
This blender has made nut butters, nut milk, and dog food so far. The coconut butter is dreamy and by far my favorite. Vitamix is easy to use and easy to clean. I am not disappointed.
BalasHapusI have wanted a Vitamix for years, and finally was willing to spend the money to get one. I LOVE it- yes, it's tough to part with so much money for a blender, but there are things you can do with this that you can't even consider with a regular blender or food processor. It is just as powerful as the advertisements say it is, and really does completely liquify solid vegetables and fruit in just seconds.
