Cuisinart CSB 75 2 Speed Immersion Blender

This blender, the Cuisnart CSB-75BC, really does 'meet or beat' what I thought a blender should be capable of doing, especially considering the cost. I've only had it a few weeks but I like experimenting with my new stuff so I've tried it out on some soup and veggies, and fruits too; didn't do well with cube ice but then I didn't expect it to. But, it did nicely with heavy cream.

I ordered the chrome version and that's what I got. I didn't find it especially heavy but I only intend holding it for brief periods of time, anyway. Nor did I have any difficulty with the different speeds or being able to control them. Oh, and I didn't cut my fingers 'cause I had the common sense not to forget shutting it off before I stuck my fingers where they shouldn't have been.

This Cuisnart blender looks and feels good and the two halves separate and reattach without difficulty. However, I cannot attest to it's longevity, yet. But if I become dissatisfied, for any reason, I'll update this review.

I've given some thought to what other reviewers have said and, truthfully, I don't understand much of it. This is a blender and, frankly, I think I got just about what I paid for, and what I expected.

  1. I like everything about this 2-speed smart stick immersion blender. I can't believe how often I grab for it instead of just whipping something by hand, the way I've always done. It's simple to clean. I usually use the lower speed, so I know it has another gear if I need it. I also have a food processor, but those do a poor job of mixing up liquids, IMO. I just can't figure out why I didn't get one of these sooner.

  2. I made a smoothie as soon as I received it. It was quick and easy, blended up the fruit nicly and couldn't work better.

  3. The blender is bigger than I expected, but it will be perfect for blending soups or smoothies. I got the red one and fortunately it doesn't look so rubbery red as the picture makes it seem, its same polished plastic as the other colors :) It's pretty quiet and easy to operate, I hope it will last awhile. I also love the measuring cup it came with.

  5. This is so powerful without having to get out the big mixer. The big mixers are great if you're making cookies and pastries but this is small and light weight. Its great for making creamy soups. Buy the milk shake cup and it's great for making milk shakes.

  6. I have had this a while now and used it a lot. Work perfectly fine, doesn't break down. Also have a friend who has owned one for years and uses it regularly. I have no clue why there are negative reviews for this. Maybe people are trying to blend up ice and rocks...

  7. Mixing - The two speed operation is handy. For making soups, you can do most of the job on low speed, even with chunky vegetables. This makes it easier to control how thick the final product is, and it makes for less possibility of splash-ups. The switch feel is sure (good tactile feel). The blade is stocky and sharp - it looks like it's built for business. I blended a large pot of tomato black bean garlic soup down in under 30 seconds.

Motor - Plenty of power. It's quiet compared to my last blender (especially on low), which was 3x the price. I cannot comment on durability yet, as this is a new model.

Size/weight/feel - Hefty, but not heavy. It has a quality feel with a nice balance. If it were too light, it would feel cheap.

Cord - Long enough to get the job done, but not too long to make wrapping up the cord a hassle.

Assembly/Cleaning - Easy to attach/detach. The lock-up feels solid. So far, there's little mechanical play in the interface. It's very easy to clean by hand if you don't wait for it to dry up.

I've grown to like Cuisinart products. It looks like they have a winner here.

4/10/2013 update - I've had this for several months now, and I can say the concern about the plastic gear on the prior version does not appear to be an issue on this design. I've used it dozens of times and there is not a hint of wear. Bumping to 5 stars. It's one of my favorite kitchen tools.

  8. I'll tell you what, this immersion hand blender is a real game changer! We just blended an entire pineapple with ice and couldn't believe how smooth, delicious, easy and refreshing it was! Simple to use, simple to clean, simply wonderful!

  9. Arrived quickly and ahead of time. Exactly as described. Easy to use and store. Cleans up quickly. Replaced a full size Kitchen Aid blender. Actually works better than old blender because you can move blades around in whatever you are blending. Would highly recommend without reservation.

  10. I use this to mix avocados every day, it also has been used to mix other foods. Its easy to clean. The switch is a little hard to operate so someone who has arthritis in their hands would have some difficulty using this blender. It does a very good job of blending the avocados into a paste.
