Read First Before Buy Back Basics SE3000 Smoothie Lifestyle
No this isn't the most perfect personal blender ever, but it close. I have had this for a couple months and use it almost every day. I got it because of reviews and most were spot on.
Pro's
- Ice or frozen... no problem
- size, perfect for one or two servings
- easy clean up of all parts
- small and stylish, not another monstrosity to find counter space for
- cup has oz, ml, and cup measurements on side
Con's
- the drink lid is laughable. The hole is to small unless your drinking straight liquid, which seem counter intuitive in a blender. I just use a straw or drink over the threads with out a lid
- This is not a quite model and it gets going. I have never needed to go above 2 (because it handles everything I throw at it), but also I am a little afraid to... I think it might rattle off my counter ;-)
All in all this isn't going to compete with a glass top of the line blender. But at the price and size you shouldn't be expecting it to. For what it was designed to do, it is brilliant. I love it.
The biggest reasons I purchased this particular blender were price, size, and blade placement.
BalasHapusThis is my first blender and I got it solely for the purpose of making green smoothies. I needed something that would be powerful enough to grind up carrots and frozen fruit well at a decent price point. What really made me choose this one was the fact that the blade cap is removable. I have used the traditional blender with the blade at the tapered end of the container, you can never be sure if it is really clean, and they always retain smells- even with a glass jar. SO- this one is awesome, just follow the directions by putting in the hard/frozen stuff first, the rest of the ingredients, and screw on the blade cap. Flip it over and screw it into the base, pulse, blend on low, medium, high, and your good to go.
The blender does give off a chemical smell when its running but I never need to run it for longer than 1 minute. I did have one instance where I over tightened the blender cap and could not get it off (I had to get a random guy in the parking lot to open it for me LOL). Since then I have realized it doesn't need that much tightening because it doesn't leak, the seals are great. The blender jar becomes your mug by screwing on the drinking cap, the jar has a nice rubberized handle and my frozen drinks stay frozen for a decent time. The drinking cap has a great lip groove that makes for comfortable drinking, and a standard straw fits in the opening if you prefer. My smoothies come out thick, I usually jiggle the first few sips out of the top, after that it melts enough to drink easily. I also bought a really soft bristle brush to clean the jar and screw on caps since I use my blender several times a day.
Overall, I am pleased with my purchase. I like to search for a deal and read reviews before choosing where my money goes. I love Amazon because there is so much feedback to pull from. I hope my review helps!
This smoothie maker is EXACTLY what I'd been searching for and I LOVE IT!! I shopped around online a LOT and finally decided on this blender (I got it about a month ago) because I read the reviews and it seemed like other people like it to make smoothies with frozen fruit and other ingredients. It's NOT easy to find a decent (and more importantly, reasonably priced) blender that can handle frozen items and ice as easily as this one does. I even looked at Williams Sonoma and other high-end stores to see if they had something like this, but they DON'T!! They only have expensive $300-$600 blenders that I highly doubt are worth the price. This blender is priced so low it almost seemed too good to be true, but it is WONDERFUL for the busy person on-the-go (like me) with NO TIME to make a healthy breakfast. It literally takes 5-10 minutes to dump in your frozen fruit/veggies, add any liquids or fresh fruit/veggies, attach the blender/cup, pulse it a few times, blend on low/med, and walk out the door, since the top of the blender doubles as a "to-go" mug with a handle and excellent snug-fitting, non-leaking lid. I bought this item to make healthy fruit smoothies for breakfast and to be able to bring them with me on the train to work, and it is absolutely PERFECT! I HIGHLY recommend this product for anyone looking to make smoothies (and milkshakes too) and experiment with different recipes! I didn't buy a book of smoothie recipes, I just create my own concoctions with any type of fruit or veggie I want (frozen, fresh or canned) and they are always DELICIOUS!! The smoothies consistently come out smooth, creamy, delicious and the perfect consistency! I'm actually amazed they are so good because I am a complete newbie at smoothie making and have no idea what I'm doing. So, this is also a GREAT product for "first-time" at home smoothie makers, and for experimenting with different ingregients. And it couldn't be easier to clean! All you need to do is clean out your mug and rinse off the attachment that attaches it to the blender. Also, the blender itself is very small and takes up almost no space at all. I keep it in a small cabinet and it's never in the way. It's so simple, easy, mess-free, a GREAT price, and it's FUN too! Hope you get this blender and enjoy as much as I am!
BalasHapusBuy this one. No chunks from ice or frozen fruit. Rips through everything in 2 seconds flat. I have never owned a gadget but this one is GREAT! I use it everyday. Perfect smoothies EVERY TIME I mean it. No more Jamba Juice for me...
BalasHapusI love how fast this smoothie maker is, and I like how I can just change out from the blender blades to the cup lid for make-n-go convenience. One thing I did notice however, is that if I but the blades back on the cup and leave it all assembled on top of the blender for a few days without use, there is an awful chemical smell inside the blender cup.
