Best Review on Prismacolor Premier Colored Pencils 1774800
After more than a year, I finally got to use this set of colored pencils. This set include a great variety of colored pencils, good enough for "inking" your drawings, applying skin tones and coloring your manga.
For fine details and "inking", I use the Verithin Colored Pencils. There are five of these included in the set: Black, Cool Grey, Tuscan Red, Dark Brown and Indigo Blue.
I tried Black, Brown and Blue for inking which produced softer edges, but I was pleased with the results. I felt more confident using these pencils for inking than actual ink since my level of inking is novice at best. I erased lightly over them with a white eraser to get rid of my initial pencils, and these colors remained in place. These don't smear easily once applied.
For coloring are 18 colors: Electric Blue, Cloud Blue, Parma Violet, Process Red, Hot Pink, Chartreuse, Light Umber, White, Black, Lavender, Light Peach, Poppy Red, Pale Vermilion, Sunburst Yellow, Lemon Yellow, Cream, Spring Green and Ultramarine.
Combining Black, White, Light Umber, Light Peach, Pale Vermilion, Sunburst Yellow, Lemon Yellow, and Cream provide a great starting range of human skin tones. I was able to produce images that were soft in color, which suited my taste at the moment. However, with the Prismacolors, I was able to increase the intensity of colors by applying several layers. I also tried taking color off with a white eraser and the color didn't smear out of where it was initially applied.
In all, I think this is a great starter set for creating manga, comics books or any color illustrations.
