Read First Before Buy Jarrow Formulas Protein Concentrate Vanilla
i have used Jarrow Brown Rice Protein for the last four years. I use a Genuine Sundesa Blender Bottle 28-oz Wire Wisk Shaker Mixing Ball Protein Water Sports Fitness Bottle and also stir the rice powder to aerate it. This combination of techniques makes it easy to mix; it's a little easier if you make sure the Sundesa ball is already in the shaker, but it will make a good shake even if you forget. My favorite fruit juices are Ocean Spray 100% Juice No Sugar Added Cranberry Juice 64 oz or, if it's out at the grocery store, another Ocean Spray 100% Juice product mixed with Cranberry juice. On other days I use V8 100% Vegetable Juice, Spicy Hot, 11.5-Ounce Cans (Pack of 24). (I usually buy one bottle at the grocery store, rather than order a stock of 24 cans.) To diminish the spiciness, I start with 4 oz. of water and then fill the Sundesa bottle to 16 oz. with V-8 juice. I'm sure that other juices will work, or you can mix a banana and almond milk as a base, if you have a mixer.
To make the mixing smoother, I stir and smooth out the rice protein before I measure it into the juice in the Sundesa bottle. If the listing for Vanilla, below the chocolate that comes up from the link above, doesn't work, the Vanilla flavor of Jarrow's Brown Rice Protein, as Amazon did not have a direct link. Now there is a direct link, as I've shown above.
This is an inexpensive form of protein, currently $11.74 for a container. I have a 1 1/2 tablespoon measuring spoon, and use two of them (or sometimes less) of the rice protein for the 16 ounces of juice. That provides 17 grams of carbohydrates, 15 mg of sodium in the Low Sodium V-8 form, 90 calories, no cholesterol, and 4 1/2 carbs! Also, 2 servings of vegetables in the V-8 Juice form. I buy three canisters of Brown Rice Protein by Jarrow - 1 Pound and they last me two months if I'm using this protein for shakes every day. That's about $36 for 60 shakes, or less than sixty cents a shake, not counting the juice.
A Thorne Research Vanilla Shake for the JJ Virgin Diet, for example, costs $60 for a 30-serving canister, has more calories, and also has a lot of nutritional additions as well as some fruit flavorings in addition to the vanilla flavor. Thorne Research is a trustworthy brand, as is Jarrow.
Basically, if you already have a taste for V-8 or Cranberry Juice, or some other breakfast juice base for a shake, then use Jarrow Brown Rice Protein Vanilla. If you are starting down the nutrition path now, go with the Thorne Research shake.
I've found this rice protein powder to be a delicious alternative to milk based protein powders. When mixed with vanilla almond milk in a blender, the taste is very similar to a chocolate malt shake. I can detect no unpleasant odors or aftertaste. In fact, it smells faintly of cocoa powder, which is a welcome change from the chemical smell some other protein powders have.
BalasHapusThe only drawback I can find is the difficulty in mixing this powder with liquid. The powder becomes very sticky when liquid is added to it, and it tends not to mix well with a spoon or even a shaker. A blender does the job well enough as long as the powder is carefully added after the blender is already filled with liquid (otherwise the powder will stick to the inside of the blender).
The best organic rice protein I have found. This powder blends really well in smoothies unlike some of the other powders which can be chalky.
BalasHapusI love it. It's really good with Tempt Chocolate Milk and is very filling. this is the only non dairy shake i've tried that doesn't give me some sort of stomach upset/discomfort. I like the smooth texture (shake well).
BalasHapusMy autistic child who selectively only eats healthy foods(veggies and brown rice!) and will not eat burgers loves this stuff when blended with almond milk and mixed frozen berries from Walmart! It has "positively" affected his eating in only days as I think it is giving him the needed amino acids his body needs! Only one spoonful per mix though! He easily will drink two glasses per day. I finally feel we found a way to get necessary protein in him. This stuff "only" has brown rice protein and natural vanilla flavor without the added garbage so it merges nicely with the almond milk and berries!
BalasHapusI really like this brown rice It is a great alternative to soy protein which has a tendency to upset my stomach . Thank you.
BalasHapusThis rice protein has an excellent source of amino acids. It is perfect source of protein for a vegetarian. I use it daily for my protein source. I mix it up in pancake batter or muffin batter and find it taste really good that way.
