Miallegro 9090 550 Watt Immersion Professional style

I waited a week to weigh in on this wonderful product. If you have been waiting to buy because of some negative reviews, many concerns have been addressed in the 9090 version.

Detailed user manual describes all parts, and attachment functions. Motor housing twist-locks easily onto attachments, blades slide snugly onto shaft/removed with a "tine tool" that keeps fingers away from blades. Easy and safe.

The chopping bowl and immersion blender allowed me to put fresh tomato soup on the table for dinner in less than 30 minutes (including simmer time). So easy! I use the chopping bowl every day for raw vegetables. It is a mini Cuisinart without the clean up hassle.

Great for the lazy cook. The chop may not be perfect, but it is fast and will encourage you to experiment! The immersion works very well with various power levels.

Finally, thanks to earlier reviewers for comments that have probably made this product better. And a tip of the hat for warning regarding cleaning cordless equipment with blades. I'm sticking with corded verions that can be unplugged for cleaning!

  1. Admittedly, I was skeptical because I'd never heard of Miallegro before. After using all of the optional blades as well as the chopper, this is a superior product. It is powerful, multi-purposed, and would serve well in any household. The only thing I can say is, read the instructions, and use common sense. It is not designed for lazy people who dislike having to invest an extra 30 seconds into changing a blade to serve a different purpose or expect this product to do everything for them. The idea behind this product is to perform a maximum number of tasks without consuming an enormous amount of space-which means that rather than having multiple connecting wands with the various blades, you have a single wand with removable blades. I enjoy this as we have limited storage space in our kitchen.

  2. Great so far! I make Hot Pepper sauce every year and needed something with enough power to be able to grind up the pepper skins and make the sauce very smooth. Even my Cuisinart food processor has trouble with this task, plus it would leak hot sauce everywhere. Just got this and tried it on 2 different tasks. 1) I made a blended ice drink that was so thick it wouldn't pour! 2) I used it to grind some of my leftover pepper skins and vinegar. It worked very well but didn't grind up the seeds. Probably asking for too much there. Seems like it really has 550 watts.

I was nervous about buying a brand with no reviews, however I checked out their website and they have a 15 month warranty and their other products got good reviews. All the labels on it are in spanish with a small user guide in english. I compared it to the $100 Kitchenaid and I like this one better, especially at only $40. All the components seem well made and are stainless steel.

  3. I was pleased and surprised to observe and be able to detect the quality of the powerful motor, solid construction, tight fitting parts of this unit. Well built, solid, and easy to operate.

Tall lower main blending section -- which is detachable for cleaning -- is 9 1/2 inches tall (24 cm) for doing some serious blending in some large bowls. The detachable lower section is great in case I need to chuck it into the dishwasher.

Also, the removable blending rod, food processor and whip (all separate pieces) are convenient for switching between jobs for some recipes where I need a couple different ''tools''...I didn't choose it for these because most of the other 'wands' we have had sent some rather flimsy 'bonus' gear. The 'other parts' of this kit are as solidly built as the main housing.

The bonus parts of this unit are in reality serious additions to it. We will probably toss this into the RV for vacations as it is several tools in one. This would make a great wedding gift for a couple just starting out, or a great scale-back unit for RV or retirement homes.

We lost our Braun which we'd used without issue for many years, and I tried a couple other brands which were underbuilt and flimsy and not well designed. The Miallegro 9090 is quite different...it is what every immersion blender should aspire to be.

When the Miallegro showed up and turned out to have 4 blades, and 6 speeds (5 speeds plus turbo mode), a separate mixer, and a separate food processor housing, it was obvious this is a serious unit.

The 550 Watt motor has superior get-up-and-go power from any other unit I've tried, and this is a non-commercial unit for household use! It's nice to know that someone is still building decent non-commercial home units.

Despite this being the Christmas season (2010) free delivery from Amazon was still only 5 days

It's good to know good products still exist...

  4. This is my first hand blender. Like a lot of others, I read the reviews about the major brands. I had never heard of the Miallegro Mitutto before, to be honest I can't even pronounce the name. I don't believe I will ever have to buy another one. There are 5 speeds with a Turbo, I bought it mainly because I had bought a juicier, thinking that's what I wanted....I was wrong! I had thought of a Vita Mix until I found out how much they want for them, so because of space and cost I settled for a hand blender.
If this is your story, you won't be disappointed. I believe if I had a long enough cord I could propel my boat. So far the highest speed I've had it on is 3, and I'm afraid of hitting the Turbo button.

  5. In spite of some negative reviews I decided to purchase this blender to replace my old marginal Moulinex 150-watt wand. So far I've only used it to mix chocolate powder in milk, which it accomplished thoroughly within seconds. I am writing this to pass on a couple of observations which others might find useful.

First, there has been a change in the product that is not covered properly in the photo or instructions. On the older units the blender shaft was pressed onto the motor housing after the arrows were aligned. The unit I received has padlock symbols on the blender shaft and a dot on the motor housing. To attach the shaft, you line up the open padlock with the dot and twist to the left until the closed padlock is aligned with the dot. Reverse the procedure to remove the shaft. Simple and easy.

Second, there have been a number of complaints concerning removing the blades. Yes, this is a bit inconvenient, but is more than compensated by the versatility. The instructions are misleading and I believe they are wrong; the notch in the tool straddles the blender's shaft, not the blade sleeve, and applying pressure beneath the blades themselves (as shown in the instructions) will apply force to the blades and may damage them.

This is how I believe the blades should be removed: 1) Remove the shaft from the housing. 2) Push the end of the shaft that attaches to the housing. This will open a small space at the bottom of the shaft sleeve (the end farthest from the blades). 3) Slip the notched end of the blade removal tool into this space under the sleeve. 4) Apply a firm steady pressure to the tool and the blade will slide off. At first this is clumsy, but after a few tries it becomes straightforward.

  6. After reading the many negative reviews concerning non-English instructions and blade insertion problems, I took a chance and ordered this anyway. Yes, there are a lot of pieces for storage and one has to be careful inserting the blade, but the directions now come in English. And I used it as an immersion blender to puree leek and potato soup and was more than happy with the results. Heeding the warnings of others I only used the low setting and had no problems with control or spatter. Clean up was so much easier than that of the food processor and blade exchange was simple. So far, I'm more than pleased.

  7. My Miallegro arrived yesterday, and I was pretty nervous - I had an immersion blender for the better part of 15-plus years and I loved it and used it everyday!!!! When it finally gave out - I started shopping around....read a variety of reviews and started looking for another. In the past week I have purchased not one but five (5) different (national brand names) immersion blenders and all five did not deliver the performance I was able to obtain with my old immersion blender so they went back to the various stores. I found the Miallegro, by accident and am really delighted. This is a tremendous product, but not for the "faint of heart". It's powerful, and yes, a bit heavier than the competition, but it deliveres an incredible end result if you are chopping, blending, mixing or pureeing foods.

I am thrilled with the Miallegro, it's easy to clean and provides a great deal of options with one unit.

I recommend this to those who are passionate about food preperation.
