Plant Fusion Supplement Chocolate Pound

I tried PlantFusion for the first time, I got the Chocolate 2lb. First, its completely mild on your stomach compared to Whey which bloats your stomach and gives you mild stomach pain for an hour. Second, the PlantFusion chocolate flavor mixed with water or even milk is terrible. To me those arent even an option. Mixed with orange juice is a little better, but still not great. I found though if you mix with unsweetened vanilla flavored almond milk it is awesome. Add a banana and it is even better. The almond milk brings a buttery creamy taste that makes it taste like a carmel chocolate malt. Milk alone doesnt do that.
Third, I only mix in a blender, none of the other methods comes close to mixing it properly. And fourth, the price is great, you cant beat the price with free shipping on Amazon. I'm a vegetarian and plant powder isnt supposed to taste like chocolate, not supposed to taste good period, so I am ok with the fructose and sodium, real plants have sugar and salt too, and since I take after my workout, it doesnt matter to me. There is a big difference between forcing down a terrible tasting protein drink after a workout, and actually looking forward to a good tasting drink after a workout. This stuff is the best I've found, and its not made in some chinese factory with no accountability.

  1. After realizing the muscle milk powder I was buying from GNC was loaded with chemicals and heavy metals like mercury and lead, not to mention all the artificial sugars and flavors, I decided to research a healthier option for a complete protein.

I picked this powder because it has protein from different sources (pea, artichoke, amaranth, and quinoa) and also has an amino acid profile listed on the side which seemed to be more balanced than some of the other options.
The powder itself is very fine but I am okay with that. I might not like it if I had to mix it with water, but I put mine in a blender with ice, coconut milk, organic vanilla extract, coca powder, and stevia. I'm also wanting to try it with banana and peanut butter added in. I purchased the unflavored version because I knew I'd be mixing it with other flavors.

Otherwise, this powder filled me up nicely and actually lowered my cravings for sweet food. The Muscle milk I was using before had a lot of artificial sugar which I think increased my cravings for real sugar. There are also 120 calories a serving with 22g of protein versus muscle milk's 360 calories and 32g of protein. This is less protein but you feel so much better when you take this stuff.

In conclusion this is a great product. I wouldn't recommend taking it with water, but it makes a rather hearty and healthy meal replacement. It has a pretty balanced amino acid profile as well because it mixes more than one plant protein, and it also has enzymes. It balances my blood sugar nicely, and causes no digestion issues.

  2. As an athletic vegetarian who aspires to be all-natural, it's hard to find a way to stay away from nutritionism while still giving my body what it needs to continue performing well. Although I believe protein powders are generally processed and are not as natural as say the protein found in peanuts, mushrooms, or meat; Plantfusion is a happy medium between the processed and the natural. My favorite aspects of this protein powder are the vegan, 100% natural, non-GMO, soy-free ingredients. There is also no xylitol used to sweeten this powder either, another winning factor for me, as I have experienced intense migraines with very similar protein powders that DO use xylitol. This product instead uses stevia, as a sweetener I presume, and though I would prefer it did not contain this either, I have resolved to use it despite that.
The powder mixes very easily with anything: homemade fruit smoothies, yogurt, (rice/almond) milk, or plain water. Give it 10 seconds of shaking in a protein mixer or even 10 rotations of a spoon in water and it has dissolved! The texture is neither thin nor thick and leaves no chunks; leaving me with a drink that has substance but still easy for sipping. The powder should be put inside whatever container you use for preparing/drinking with just a minimal amount of care. As it is lighter than sugar in weight but heavier than confectioner's sugar; it has a tendency to create small clouds of powder if carelessly dumped into a tall glass.
The vanilla flavor is nice, not overly rich; a nice accent to any beverage. I may try the flavorless option available next time as it is less expensive and I don't mind my smoothies without its extra taste.
I have never experienced any problems in digestion when using PlantFusion, which I hear can be a problem for some when using protein powder. I have one drink with a scoop of PlantFusion on days I am cycling or running, within an hour after my activity has ended. I use it to both supplement my diet, and help maintain/create muscle mass.
Overall, this is a great product for anyone seeking an alternative to protein powders that are ingredient-dense, soy-based, whey-based, and/or contain xylitol. Have fun, be active, stay natural!

  3. Rice and vegetable based protein powders are, in my experience, vile putrid affronts to the titles "Vanilla," "Chocolate" and "Mystery Berry" (or whatever). PlantFusion, on the other hand, actually tastes GOOD! The chocolate at least. Not to mention it mixes easily, each container has ample servings, the sweeteners used are natural . . .basically I love this stuff and I want people to buy a lot of it so the company will keep producing it because I really doubt I can find another plant-based protein that I like this much. Plus, I've been supplementing my P90X workout with it and I'm seeing definition and bulk. Awesome! Buy this stuff.

  5. Of all the plant-based protein supplements I have tried (and I have spent hundreds of Dollars on many, many brands), Plant Fusion is by far the best.

The main problem I've had with EVERY other brand (including Sun Warrior, Nutri-Biotic, Life Time, Living Harvest, MLO and Jarrow, to name a few of the dozen or so I've sampled) is that they all have a grainy texture. None of them completely dissolve, even with a blender (forget using a shaker), leaving you with a grainy or powdery consistency, regardless of how much fruit you put in to try and hide it.

I was about ready to give up on plant-based protein until I found Plant Fusion. The stuff mixes easily (though I still use a hand blender, some have reported a shaker is fine) and the taste is very good. They offer vanilla bean, chocolate and unflavored, in case you prefer to add your own flavorings.

Great stuff, give it a try.

  6. If you want complex amino acid, complete vegan protein, this is your product. True, as some other reviewers have said - It's a bit chalky. But blend it well - give it a good few minutes to whirl around. What do you expect - it's powder.

When you have been doing protein powder as long as I have, chalkiness becomes background. It's the quality that is exceptional. The taste is very mild, and mixes well with juice, and is highly digestible. The energy feels great. I've already purchased for a friend in addition to my own household. I highly recommend Plant Fusion vanilla protein powder.

  7. I thought Sun Warrior was the smoothest and best-tasting vegan protein on the market (it is still a great protein) but after trying Plant Fusion I think I'm switching brands. I am very active and I also have food sensitivities, one of them being to dairy. No matter how "clean" a whey protein is, it still sets off an inflammatory response in my body.

So, I've been trying different vegan proteins for years now. I used Sequel's Vega MRP for a long time, but the consistency left something to be desired. I also use a product called True Vitality (also a vegan MRP) which I really like. However, nothing so far has compared to the taste or the smooth consistency of this protein. And, it's cheaper per volume than Sun Warrior (sorry Sun Warrior).

Glad I finally found a vegan protein that tastes good and isn't gritty. Great product.

  8. This is a great all natural protein powder. The chocolate is also very tasty!! I found that 1 scoop with 8oz of Unsweetened Vanilla Almond Milk and 4oz of water is the perfect mixture and consistency. I am going to order more right now!
